Originally made from silk, the fabric is made with highly twisted yarns and has a crinkly surface. First check it for color-bleed on a small end of the fabric, before hand-washing it. Use gentle cleansing agent like Ezee or a baby shampoo. Let the fabric soak in for 15 – 20 minutes. Drain out as much water as you can by folding the saree again and putting pressure on it. If there is a stain on the saree, scrub it delicately.
