Crossovers are a few of the coolest occasions in comics, however we’re not simply speaking issues like workforce crossovers and even writer crossovers — although anytime DC and Marvel go head-to-head in the identical e book, rely us in. We’re speaking the bizarre crossovers that appear iconic characters usually from different types of media, just like the Predator. The galaxy’s deadliest hunter most lately went up in opposition to Marvel’s biggest heroes in Predator Kills The Marvel Universe, however now he has his sights set on the Marvel universe’s deadliest vigilante — Frank Fort, aka the Punisher. It’s going to be an epic collision between the 2 icons and ComicBook had the prospect to talk with author Frank Tieri all about this wild new chapter — and we now have an unique preview as nicely.
In accordance with Tieri, there’s no greater sport than the Marvel heroes and villains, however most particularly the Punisher and that’s a part of what makes this sequence enjoyable. It additionally delivers on one thing that followers have lengthy debated and eventually they’ll get to see the way it all performs out. Take a look at every part Tieri needed to say about Predator vs. Punisher and take a look at or preview of challenge #1 as nicely under.
Predator vs. Punisher Will See the Iconic Hunter Work together with Extra Than Simply Frank Fort
ComicBook: As followers of your work nicely know (myself included) you’ve written some really iconic characters and that features the Punisher. We’ve seen you ship him on some actually fascinating adventures. However the Predator, that’s a primary. For you, what was the largest factor about attending to deliver these to insanely iconic characters collectively?
Frank Tieri: Nicely, for starters… are there any higher killing machines in comics than these two? That’s the enjoyable of it right here… Followers have debated for years which of those two popular culture icons of violence would come out on prime in the event that they had been to ever go at it… and now they get to search out out.
What’s it that you’d say makes the Predator such an fascinating match into the Marvel universe — and particularly this story?
As a result of the Predator at his coronary heart is an enormous sport hunter… and there’s no greater sport than the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe… notably the Punisher.
And to not point out the villains Frank fights regularly. That’s what we’ve basically completed right here… plop the Predator down into Frank’s world of madness. So meaning he interacts with the likes of Jigsaw, the Kingpin, the Owl… and particularly Silvermane. Silvermane truly performs an enormous half on this as a result of in contrast to the others, he has a greater concept what they’re dealing with. He and the Predator share a previous, you see… and much more unexpectedly, we be taught Frank Fort does too. And that’s all I’ll say about that.
Any fan of both the Punisher or the Predator will let you know that these are very violent, aggressive characters. Was there something about writing these two that modified your perspective on who’s the deadliest between the 2?
Nicely, if you happen to look strictly on the story of the tape, the Punisher would don’t have any probability. The Predator is 7 ft tall, has superhuman energy, has higher weaponry and is invisible half the time. And the Punisher on the finish of the day is only a dude. A really lethal dude, however a dude nonetheless. However now right here’s the factor… lethal dudes (And dudettes) have taken out Predators earlier than. Dutch, Mike Harrigan, Naru, the forged of Killer of Killers, amongst others. So, does the Predator have the sting on the finish of the day? $#*! yeah. However perhaps don’t rely Frank Fort out simply but…
What was the toughest factor you discovered about penning this sequence — and was there something that you simply suppose followers will probably be notably stunned by?
I’d say the ending. Or endings, I ought to say. We type of have a double ending–an ending with a put up credit score scene if you’ll– that I believe followers of each franchises will actually dig.
