The worth has turn out to be too excessive to look at hockey on tv on this nation the best way we did only a yr or so in the past. And when the value isn’t concerned, the selections of which video games to broadcast have been poorly executed.

Somebody from the league must step in and do one thing right here. Make hockey extra accessible or accessible than it at the moment is.

And somebody from the league wants to take a seat down with executives from Sportsnet and oversee a few of the doubtful selections the community is making.

The opposite evening, with the Stanley Cup-champion Carolina Hurricanes visiting the two-time finalist Edmonton Oilers, with Connor McDavid lighting up the league in a method it hasn’t been lit it up in a long time, the nationwide viewers on Sportsnet (on my tv, anyhow) didn’t get the Oilers-Hurricanes sport.

Mixed, although, that’s a number of hundred {dollars} a month: It’s nice for the collector, not for the buyer.

Hockey shouldn’t be free in your tv — no sport ought to any extra. Nevertheless it shouldn’t be knocking you over the pinnacle, both. Perhaps it’s time for the commissioner to have a dialog with the nice of us at Rogers. He’s alleged to be commissioner of the followers, as far-fetched as that idea appears to be.
