When Embark stated it might take a number of months to ship the main Arc Raiders replace it envisioned, days like right now have been in all probability the objective. The extraction shooter is as soon as once more excessive up in Steam’s charts for each best-selling and most-played video games.
Amongst finest sellers, Arc Raiders presently ranks fifth, behind this week’s different huge releases, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Gears of Conflict: E-Day, however these got here out earlier this week, and it is nonetheless early, so we might even see it leap over these earlier than the week is thru. Its new beauty DLC, the Frozen Path Collector’s Set, can also be promoting very properly. It presently sits at #8 on the best-sellers record.
As for concurrent gamers, Arc Raiders has eclipsed triple digits on Steam, one thing it hasn’t completed since Could. It is sitting at 106,000–that’s good for twelfth on the list–and has really gained 5,000 extra gamers since I began penning this. Like its gross sales surge, it appears probably that it will hold climbing all through the day.
Not coincidentally, Could was when Embark introduced it might be transferring to a semi-annual cadence for main updates, with right now’s Frozen Path being the primary such replace since that change. Embark felt it wanted extra time to ship greater updates for gamers whereas giving builders respiratory room for a more healthy work atmosphere.
I have been fascinated by that daring transfer as a result of it is not often seen on this planet of extraordinarily well-liked live-service video games. Arc Raiders by no means actually dropped off utterly; it nonetheless averaged 40,000 concurrent Steam gamers in September, nevertheless it was near averaging half one million final vacation season, so the autumn was precipitous, even when these numbers have been probably by no means to be sustained.
The primary day post-update cannot inform the entire story on whether or not this revised roadmap pays off for Embark, nevertheless it’s clearly off to a robust begin.
Arc Raiders shall be free-to-play this weekend on all of its out there platforms.
