US provider George H W Bush visits Thailand after Center East deployment


PHUKET: The US plane provider George H W Bush arrived in Thailand’s resort island of Phuket on Sunday (Oct 4) with about 4,800 personnel aboard for a rest-and-recreation break after six months supporting US operations within the Center East.

For the final six months, the Nimitz-class plane provider and its strike group supported Operation Epic Fury and the US naval blockade within the US Central Command space of duty to safe maritime safety and stability within the Center East, in line with the US Navy.

Phuket is the primary port name for the George H W Bush Provider Strike Group since departing Norfolk, Virginia, and Mayport, Florida, in March, the US Navy stated in a press release.

Sailors will participate in cultural and neighborhood actions in Phuket, together with sightseeing excursions and a US-Thailand soccer match, it stated.

The provider anchored offshore, whereas crew members are anticipated to come back ashore via Phuket Deep Sea Port and spend time on the favored southern resort island from Oct 4 to 9, native media reported.

Some sailors have been seen coming ashore by boat.

The go to follows a five-day port name by the US provider Abraham Lincoln at Laem Chabang in japanese Thailand final month, with about 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard.
