Lots of Sonic followers are desperate to see the likes of Sonic Journey make a return as a remake or remaster – for some motive. But in response to a brand new interview with Automaton, Sonic boss Takashi Iizuka appears eager to give attention to new video games over remasters or remakes.
Primarily, he states that the group’s assets are restricted, so fairly than use such assets recreating an current recreation, he would fairly produce one thing fully new.
This is what he needed to say:
“We hear all kinds of requests from the fan group for remakes and remasters, resembling folks asking us to port Sonic Unleashed. However our assets are restricted… Reasonably than utilizing these restricted assets to make remakes and remasters, now we have a stronger want to offer followers with new video games and ship new surprises.
“With remakes and remasters, you’re primarily offering the identical expertise once more. However nowadays, remaking an previous recreation requires about as many assets as creating a brand new title. You need to remake all of the graphics, and you may’t merely launch the gameplay because it was again then as a result of many issues are deemed tough by fashionable requirements.”
He does, nevertheless, acknowledge that some Sonic video games is likely to be tough to acquire nowadays, or in some instances stay fully unplayable. With stuff like this, he merely advises to “wait a bit of longer”.
Nonetheless, as a lot as we love an excellent remake and remaster, we do respect Sonic Workforce’s want to offer fully recent experiences – even when they’ll nonetheless be a bit hit and miss.
Iizuka lately confirmed {that a} new Sonic recreation is in improvement (fast, fake to be shocked!), and he said that the event group it taking a look at “creating an entire new form of gameplay expertise”. Sounds intriguing. Hopefully we cannot have to attend too lengthy to see what’s being cooking within the oven.
