The trailer for the season finale of Lanterns is right here, and it appears nearly everybody is prepared for a similar factor. Within the newest episode, Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart has dug up Hal Jordan’s grave to retrieve Hal’s Energy Ring. Stewart instantly boots up the Halogram, performed by Kyle Chandler, in an effort to open the vault in Jordan’s storage unit. Earlier than they’ll do this, the Halogram desires to fulfill Useless Hal’s woman sheriff, Kerry Kane. Very like Hal trusted his intestine, the Halogram proclaims that the Sheriff killed him. The vault incorporates a portal to the alien planet that John had skilled the loss of life of within the second episode of the sequence. Town within the skies of the planet actually died of worry attributable to a gasoline put into the environment by the Manhunter. And it’s the planet the place Useless Hal had hidden Sinestro. The penultimate episode ended with John Stewart punching out Sinestro, whereas the Halogram seemed on like a proud papa.
The Lanterns season finale trailer jumps proper into it from there. Sinestro explains that the Guardians assume worry makes you weak, but it surely’s truly essentially the most highly effective pressure within the universe. Nathan Fillion’s Man Gardner will probably be returning to Rushville for what his facial features suggests is a critical speak. Stewart and Kerry are having an equally intense dialog at her son Noah’s soccer recreation. Whereas Sinestro’s voiceover says Jordan didn’t should die in useless, we see flashes of Hal waking up in a room that appears similar to the within of the weenie the place the Manhunter healed Kerry and John. After which the Halogram provides John a warning that he’s taking a giant threat earlier than he squares off in opposition to what we assume is Hal’s killer. His remaining phrases: “Don’t be afraid to be afraid.” The parting shot has John trying to the sky, nearly as if about to say one thing heroic. And that’s precisely what followers are prepared for him to do. One fan says it for everybody: “Is my boy about to recite his oath?”
In Brightest Day and Blackest Night time…
To this point this season, we’ve seen John get raised from delivery to change into a Inexperienced Lantern, get recruited by the Guardians to interchange Hal Jordan, watch Hal Jordan miseducate and nearly kill the recruit, get seduced by a Manhunter, cease Hal Jordan from beginning a battle simply to present him a bonus in capturing a Manhunter, and switch down being a Inexperienced Lantern after seeing it corrupt Hal Jordan. In all of that, now we have but to listen to John Stewart say the Inexperienced Lantern Oath. Not since Netflix’s Daredevil season one have we so anticipated seeing a superhero, as Barney Stinson would say, “swimsuit up.“
Early within the present, Hal makes it clear that he operates on intuition and “trusting your intestine.” This week, Halogram’s intestine instructed him that Kerry Kane felt responsible for killing him. Whereas John waved him off, there’s a excellent fan idea that will counsel she does have motive for offing the previous Inexperienced Lantern. Theories we picked up on from previous episodes could also be confirmed correct as one thing is amiss with Kerry Kane’s son. In early episodes of the present, it’s defined that the Manhunters will defend a group and make themselves invaluable, however keep considerably off the grid. When Kerry’s son refuses to decide on a university to play soccer for, he says he’s doing it to deal with the crew’s subsequent win, however the actuality is he may be unwilling to go away his territory. If Hal found that Noah was the subsequent technology of the Manhunters on Earth, Sheriff Kane would have a really compelling purpose to kill him.
Subsequent week we’ll lastly have the solutions we’ve been ready for. The thriller behind who shot Hal Jordan will probably be solved, however that doesn’t imply we all know what comes subsequent for Jordan. After turning evil and sacrificing his personal life to redeem himself, Hal Jordan turned the Spectre. The present gave us a sci-fi model of a post-death Jordan within the Halogram. With Sinestro doing his finest impression of Darth Sidious, it appears to be like just like the DCU will discover a strategy to let its model of Hal Jordan cheat loss of life as properly.
