The collision occurred on the M56 eastbound between junctions 6 and seven, close to Manchester Airport, at round 9.37am on Wednesday, September 16.
Cheshire Police confirmed that emergency companies attended the scene and that no severe accidents had been reported.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police mentioned: “At 9.37am on Wednesday, September 16, emergency companies had been referred to as to studies of a multi-vehicle collision on the M56 eastbound carriageway between junctions 6 and seven.
“Officers attended and located there had been a collision between an HGV and three vehicles.
“There have been no studies of any severe accidents, and the scene was cleared by 1.20pm.”
The incident led to the closure of all 4 lanes, with site visitors dropped at a standstill for round two hours.
Nationwide Highways reported delays of as much as 60 minutes on the peak of the disruption.
A spokesman for Nationwide Highways mentioned: “Site visitors is at present stopped on the M56 eastbound between J7 and J6 following a multi-vehicle collision.
“Emergency companies are in attendance.
“There are delays of as much as 60 minutes eastbound nowadays whereas the carriageway is blocked.”
By late morning, one lane had reopened to permit site visitors to cross the scene, although lanes two, three, and 4 remained closed to permit for car restoration.
Regardless of the partial reopening, drivers continued to face delays of as much as 45 minutes.
All lanes had been ultimately reopened by 1.20pm.
A spokesman for Nationwide Highways posted on X, previously Twitter, saying: “The M56 eastbound between J7 and J6.
“All lanes are actually open.
“There are residual delays of quarter-hour on the strategy.”
The incident induced important disruption for motorists travelling in direction of Manchester and the airport, with many compelled to hunt different routes.
