Larger Manchester Hearth and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed that 4 hearth engines had been despatched to the scene from Bolton North, Bolton Central, Farnworth, and Whitefield stations.
A spokesperson for GMFRS mentioned: “Simply after 6pm on Wednesday 9 September, hearth crews had been referred to as to reviews of a fireplace at a house on Swinside Street, Bolton.
“4 hearth engines from Bolton North, Bolton Central, Farnworth and Whitefield stations had been rapidly mobilised to the incident, which concerned a hearth within the kitchen of a ground-floor flat.
“Firefighters carrying respiration equipment used two hose reels to extinguish the hearth. A person was rescued from the property and has been taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.
“Hearth crews had been in attendance for about two hours.”
The person’s situation has not been disclosed.
