The M56 eastbound is closed between J14 (Hapsford) and J12 (Runcorn) for a police led incident
Cheshire Police is main the response to the continued incident and have closed the carriageway to permit emergency companies to work at scene.
Two units of diversions are in place relying on dimension of car.
-Site visitors throughout the closure is being rotated & directed off at J14.
Nationwide Highways have sources in attendance to help with site visitors administration.
Delays are possible on method to the closure and diversion routes.
Diversion Route
For automobiles underneath 14 ‘6” (4.4m) comply with the stable diamond diversion image on street indicators:
- Depart the M56 eastbound at J14
- On the J14 roundabout take the 4thexit onto the A5117.
- Observe the A5117 to its signalised junction with the A56 and proceed straight onto the A56 in direction of Helsby.
- Proceed on the A56 by way of Helsby and Frodsham till the junction with the A557 and switch left onto the A557 Clifton Street.
- On the A557 Clifton Roundabout take the first exit to proceed on the A557.
- Maintain left when approaching the Rocksavage Roundabout (for Manchester, Northwich) after which on the roundabout take the third exit to rejoin the M56 at J12.
For automobiles over 14 ‘6” (4.4m) comply with the X diversion image on street indicators:
- Exit the M56 at J14
- On the roundabout, take the first exit onto Hill View Method/A5117.
- On the roundabout, take the first exit onto the M53 slip street to Chester/Manchester/Warrington/M56/Runcorn.
- Merge onto M53 southbound.
- Proceed onto N Wales Exp/A55.
- At Junction 40, take the A51 exit to Chester/Nantwich/Whitchurch/A41.
- At Vicars Cross, take the first exit onto Tarvin Rd/A51.
- Proceed to comply with A51.
- On the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Holme St/A54.
- Proceed to comply with A54.
- Maintain left to proceed on Chester Rd/A556.
- Flip left onto Forest Rd/A49.
- Proceed to comply with A49.
- On the roundabout, take the first exit and keep on A49.
- Flip left onto Northwich Rd/A533.
- At Whitehouse Roundabout, take the first exit onto Chester Rd/A533.
- On the roundabout, take the first exit onto Southern Exp/A533.
- Take the slip street to Mersey Gateway Port/Ashville/Rocksavage Energy Plant and Works/Castner Kellner/Runcorn Docks/Weston Level/Picow Farm Street.
- Merge onto A5126.
- Take a slight left onto A557(S), following the slip street to M56/Frodsham/A56/Clifton/Beechwood.
- Merge onto Rocksavage Expwy/Weston Level Expwy/A557.
- Take the M56 slip street.
- At Rocksavage Roundabout, take a slight left.
- Take a slight left onto the M56 slip street to Manchester/Northwich.
