The Treasury Board introduced the change to distant work guidelines in February and stated all different staff may have to be in the workplace 4 days a week as of July 6.
The new directive applies solely to public servants working in the core departments and companies beneath Treasury Board, although some separate companies, like the Canada Income Company and the Nationwide Analysis Council, have stated they intend to comply with the similar strategy.
Most public servants have been informed to work remotely when the COVID-19 pandemic started in March 2020, and core federal staff have been working three days in-office since September 2024, after the customary elevated from two days.
Federal unions have fought the authorities’s back-to-office directives and a few have filed unfair labour observe complaints.
The Treasury Board web site says there have been 9,340 executives working for the federal authorities as of the finish of March 2025, out of 357,965 public servants.
