On Instagram, the band wrote, “A couple of 12 months in the past, we had been requested to be interviewed for a documentary about Hillel Slovak. He was a founding member of the group, an excellent guitarist, and buddy. We agreed to be interviewed out of affection and respect for Hillel and his reminiscence.”
The assertion clarifies, “Nonetheless, this documentary is now being marketed as a Pink Sizzling Chili Peppers documentary, which it’s not. We had nothing to do with it creatively. We’ve got but to make a Pink Sizzling Chili Peppers documentary. The central topic of this present Netflix particular is Hillel Slovak and we hope it sparks curiosity in his work.”
The documentary, then, is not formally sanctioned — however, regardless of what the band’s assertion claims, it definitely does appear to be a Pink Sizzling Chili Peppers documentary.
The Rise of the Pink Sizzling Chili Peppers is out March 20. It is directed by Ben Feldman.
