Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh authorities has issued a authorities order for the creation of a brand new Polavaram district, with Rampachodavavaram as its headquarters, as a part of the continued reorganisation of districts within the State.
Income (Lands-IV) division particular chief secretary G. Sai Prasad issued G.O. Ms. No. 517 on Tuesday, notifying the formation of the brand new district with impact from December 31.
The Polavaram district will comprise 12 mandals. Of those, eight mandals are drawn from the erstwhile Rampachodavaram Income Division — Rampachodavaram, Devipatnam, Y. Ramavaram, Gutheredu, Addateegala, Gangavaram, Maredumilli and Rajavommangi.
The remaining 4 mandals — Yetapaka, Chinturu, Kunavaram and Vara Ramachandrapuram — have been taken from the Chinturu Income Division.
All of the 12 mandals had been earlier a part of the Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
