Mavis Staples has been performing for greater than six many years. One True Vine is her second album-length collaboration with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy.

From small nation church buildings to the phases of the civil rights motion to the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame, Mavis Staples’ profession has spanned greater than 60 years.
The gospel legend has proven no real interest in retirement. Her new album, One True Vine, is her second collaboration with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.
“It is a completely completely different CD,” Staples tells NPR’s Neal Conan. “It is a return to my starting. So far as I am involved, it is introduced me full circle. I’ve gone from the strictly gospel to people to nation, and right here I’m proper again at dwelling the place I started.”
Staples started singing together with her household band The Staple Singers when she was 13. She says her newest album reminds her of singing together with her household, and that she all the time tries to sing not less than one track written by her father, Roebuck “Pops” Staples, who died in 2000.
