One of the vital constant elements of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is simply how highly effective the Hulk is. It was in 2012’s The Avengers that we actually obtained to see how a lot of a drive he’s, terrifying Black Widow as he chased her, punching Thor with relative ease, and ripping aside the Chitauri. Since then, Hulk has remained fairly unstoppable, whether or not it was via his years as a gladiator on Sakaar or the way in which he pulverized Ultron’s military. Bruce Banner is afraid of what the Hulk can do and infrequently does every little thing in his energy to maintain the “different man” at bay.
After all, there are exceptions as a result of if the Hulk by no means misplaced, his tales and fights would get type of boring. Fortunately, the MCU has made positive that Hulk has been defeated a handful of occasions and it has really occurred extra usually than you in all probability realized. The Hulk’s losses have come by the hands of members of the Avengers, by a number of the franchise’s best villains, by individuals with out particular powers, and in a single case, didn’t even contain Bruce Banner. There’s additionally one occasion the place the Hulk had zero probability and misplaced in a one-sided, convincing beatdown.
5) Iron Man
The primary time that we see Hulk lose a struggle within the MCU is available in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Wanda Maximoff makes use of her talents to get into Bruce Banner’s head and unleash the Hulk at his most vicious and uncontrollable. With out reinforcements, Tony Stark calls in “Veronica” to assist. “Veronica” is a cell module that deploys components to craft a brand new Iron Man swimsuit generally known as the Hulkbuster that may face up to assaults from the Hulk and dish them again out simply as nicely.
That made for a comparatively evenly matched struggle. Iron Man pummels Hulk’s face into the bottom, but Hulk will get up and throws him round. Iron Man slams him down dozens of tales in an empty constructing, and it was nonetheless barely sufficient to cease him. Hulk will get up prepared for extra, although he’s clearly woozy, and Iron Man delivers one ultimate punch to definitively win the struggle. The Hulkbuster is so efficient that Bruce makes use of it in Avengers: Infinity Struggle when he can’t flip into Hulk.
4) Thor
After the occasions of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hulk flew away in a Quinjet and we didn’t hear from him for a number of motion pictures. That modified in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, when Thor ended up on the planet Sakaar and was advised to struggle in an area towards the Grandmaster’s champion, who simply so occurs to be Hulk. Thor thinks there gained’t be a struggle, however this can be a Hulk who has been in management for years and there’s no signal of Banner wherever.
This can be a struggle that followers wished for years, particularly after it was teased in 2012. Hulk beats Thor up till Thor understands that he can’t maintain again. When Thor ranges Hulk with a large hammer, the group is surprised to see somebody who can match Hulk’s energy. Hulk slams him round like he did to Loki all these years in the past earlier than Thor makes use of his God of Thunder powers to dish out his greatest offense. He has Hulk defeated till the Grandmaster sabotages him and permits the struggle to technically finish in a draw.
3) Captain America
Essentially the most shocking win over a Hulk comes from a person with out superpowers. Tony Stark additionally has no particular talents however his countless wealth and genius mind allowed him to stage the taking part in discipline. Sam Wilson had no such benefit in 2025’s Captain America: Courageous New World when he went up towards the Pink Hulk. The one Hulk listed who isn’t Bruce Banner, President Thaddeus Ross turns into Pink Hulk and turns into the most important risk Sam has ever confronted.
For those who ever wanted proof of Sam Wilson’s worthiness of carrying that protect, simply take a look at this struggle. He’s absurdly overmatched, but he by no means backs down, embodying what made Steve Rogers so particular. Hulk dominates the struggle, ripping off Sam’s wings, crushing his helmet, and throwing him round. Vibranium performs an enormous half in how Sam is ready to survive and he manages to hit Hulk with simply sufficient to injure him to the purpose the place he can purpose with him and produce the person again out.
2) Spider-Man
One struggle that Marvel followers didn’t anticipate to get was the Hulk vs. Spider-Man. But that’s simply what they obtained in 2026’s Spider-Man: Model New Day. At first, Spider-Man faces a Hulk who’s being mind-controlled by Jean Gray. It’s a tricky struggle that he’s not likely ready for, but he handles himself nicely sufficient. That falls aside as quickly as Banner comes out, solely to get pressured again in by Savage Hulk, which is a stage of Hulk we hadn’t seen in a very long time.
Even Peter notes that Hulk is manner greater than he ever thought he might be. Spider-Man makes use of his pace and crafty to get the higher hand at occasions, however one thunderclap from Hulk and he was in bother. Spider-Man very a lot takes a beating right here and the battle is fairly one-sided. Nevertheless, it’s one other case of Hulk having his opponent overwhelmed, just for one thing to set off him to settle down and trigger him to cease. Spider-Man, like Sam, will get the win as a result of the person behind the Hulk got here again out.
1) Thanos
There may be one beatdown that the Hulk has confronted within the MCU and it modified him ceaselessly. In the beginning of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity Struggle, Hulk stepped as much as struggle Thanos one-on-one. Most moviegoers pumped their fists and figured he’d tough Thanos up. Nevertheless, Thanos merely shrugged it off and began throwing lefts and rights again. One shot to the throat and it was clear that Hulk was in deep trouble.
Thanos continued the assault and even lifted Hulk up with shocking ease earlier than slamming him right down to the bottom. Thanos could have even killed Hulk had Heimdall not despatched him away to Earth. The defeat humbled Hulk, as he was too scared to return out for the remainder of the film. We didn’t see him once more till Banner spent years combining the mind with the brawn. Thanos handed Hulk the worst lack of his life.
